Money Saved

More than just on food. Some of my work shirts are getting a little thread bare as well as being tight. (,my wife said I was straining the buttons). Today I am wearing an older smaller size and it fits well. I have several of this brand and size so I do not need to go shopping which I do not usually enjoy. A side benefit I did not anticipate along with feeling better and more energetic.

Blindsided

Yep, blindsided. Misled, maybe even deceived. And they were such kind and sweet little girls.

"Dad, I am not eating very well at all." Or "We went out for ice cream". "I have not lost any weight recently". Then the weigh in where I had a side bet with my two daughters that's I would loose more than they would combined. At the final settling of the scale I had lost by almost two pounds even though I was down 4.8%.

I have asked for a double or nothing for next month. I do not know if they will agree. They are planning which movie I will take them to see this weekend. (Maybe we will do lunch also as it is always nice to spend time with them.)

Tuesday 2/19. Travel is the Pits

Again this week on the Road for three full days. Not the best food available and no real time for exercise. Today was a bad unusual scenario. The conference was of and the program said the host company was providing the food at the end. There was supposed to be a dinner afterwards, but nothing but them sponsoring this was on the schedule. All day I avoided the pastries and desserts, and I stayed until 6:00, but only had diet Cokes. On the way back to my room I stopped at subway and had a reasonable turkey sandwich. 2 minutes after I got back to my room there was a phone call and there were about 30 people in another room waiting to have dinner until I got there. Soooo, two meals not one. I had fish which was OK,but the they brought out the dessert and I ended up eating the apple pie. First dessert with a meal sincere started.

I' be back for Thursday so I will need to get some exercise in then and Friday.

Sunday 2/10/13. "5" down and still "2 & 2" to go

Odd title, but meaningful to me. I have passed the 5% initial target for the April weigh in and actually I am down over 7% from the start of December. There are still 2 weeks to go before the next weigh in and two months to go before the April cutoff for 5% loss of original weight. I am pretty happy so far. I am not starving myself just changed the makeup of what I am eating. Also increased my exercise a little but still need additional improvement for in that area.

Feeling better.

Notoriety

Wow, your name get's on the front page of the News Herald, and everyone sees it. Many, many comments about it from the Lighten Up article. my favorite was that they were glad to see my name on the front page and that it wasn't because I was being arraigned for something.

Hit a plateau with the weight loss at th end of this week. What does Up late every night and very busy and no exercise equal? it equals no weight loss!

Sunday 2/3/13 - Surprised by Calories

Stopped at fastr food resturant after church and before I went shopping foir good stuff like peppers, cucmbers, granola etc. I was surpised to see that the grilled chicken sald was 290 calories and 8 grams of fat while the SMALL shake was 590 calories and 17 grams of fat. Double! I never would have guessed that much of a difference. The large shake was 880 calroies and 24 grams for fat. Only their large breakfast which has a lot of food, was more calories.

Too bad. I used to like the shakes, but maybe that is why I need LIGHTEN UP.

Friday 2/1/13 - First set back

In the prior two weeks I have really noit had a bad day when I ate much or any of what I did not intend on doing. Today was nto terrible, but it was a break down more with extra than terrible foods. I was off site all morning and the boss brought in a dansih tray and suggested wse all take some. The danissh and bagfels sure looked good, but I settled on a raisn bran muffin.

Since we were off site I did not bring a lunch (had a large chop salad) nor did I then have my afternoon snack of a low fat cheese stick and an apple. Instead around 4:30 I had a pack of cheese crackers. 190 cal! Went out to eat tonight but had an entre that was 550 cal, which was nto terrible, but not excellent either. Tonight after dinner has been more difficult. I was putting out food for my discipleship group tomorrow morning and ended up snacking on some. I ate an extra 8 almonds, about 7 yogurt covered raisnins and several tricuts. Again not terrible, but the first real breakdown of will power. Last week my wife but out food Saturday morning and I was OK.

Weight loss so far has been good. I am down 3.5% to 4 %. My goal is to be past the 5% mark by the first weigh in and not april.
